A California Cool Revival: Reimagining a 1926 Spanish Gem

Tucked into a quiet pocket of the Bay Area, this 1926 Spanish Revival duplex was given a thoughtful transformation that honors its historic roots while embracing a fresh, livable elegance. The home was redesigned with a vision of California cool organic textures, sculptural forms, and a tonal palette that whispers luxury without shouting.

The goal: elevate every square inch while keeping it grounded, intimate, and warm.

This 1926 Bay Area Spanish Revival was restored with care, honoring its original charm while adding refined, modern touches. We preserved key architectural elements like the arched entry, plaster detailing, and red clay roof tiles, while elevating the materiality throughout.

The stair risers feature hand-cut Italian tile, paired with limestone treads for a soft, timeless foundation. A custom cedar gate, designed in-house, adds warmth and privacy while nodding to classic craftsmanship.

The newly installed paver motor court provides both functionality and visual continuity, grounding the exterior with texture and symmetry.

Matte black sconces and steel-framed glass doors modernize the façade striking the perfect balance between old-world romance and California cool.

The curated blend of heritage and modern restraint. We layered custom millwork, artisan tile, natural stone, and sculptural lighting to create a home that feels timeless, tactile, and livable. In the kitchen, dramatic Constentino marble slabs and integrated lighting elevate functionality into form, while the living room centers around a custom plaster fireplace and layered textures. The moody, color-drenched bedroom acts as a cocoon, contrasting the sunlit palette elsewhere. Every material from imported Italian stair tile to handcrafted Zellige in the baths was selected for longevity, soul, and spatial harmony. Designed with a sharp eye and a high standard, this project reflects our belief that luxury lies in intention, not excess.
